Charlie was born at his residence in Woodleaf on Aug. 20, 2011. He was a happy and joyful child.
Survivors include brother E. Mr. Frederick C. McDaniel, 69, of Woodleaf, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013.
Born Oct. 10, 1943, in Davie County, he was the son of Ophelia Hellard Murph, the late Giles Murph and the late Theo McDaniel, who passed away when Fred was two years old.
Mr. McDaniel was a graduate of West Rowan High School and Mitchell Community College. Currently, he was employed with Novant Health Rowan Medical Center as a CNA2. His past employment included a number of years as a supervisor with Celanese, Petco in Hickory and GDX in Salisbury.
Mr. McDaniel was also on the board of director's with Scotch-Irish Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Needmore Baptist Church, where he served on the Board of Deacons and as Sunday School director.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara McDaniel; son Michael McDaniel of Woodleaf; daughter Melissa Corriher and husband Jonathan of Salisbury; grandson Garrett Corriher; sisters Kay Burton of Mocksville, Donna Reavis and husband Larry of Woodleaf, Pam Hensley and husband Jimmy of Woodleaf, and Jennifer Lookabill and husband Jimmy of Woodleaf; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ophelia “Billie” Hellard Murph, 90, of Woodleaf, passed away at her home Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015. Born Dec. 5, 1924, in Davie County, she was the daughter of the late John Berry and the late Willie Ann Foster Hellard. She was educated in the Davie County school system and graduated from Cooleemee High School. For many years, she worked in the garment manufacturing industry before joining the first female work force to enter Fiber Industries, where she retired with over 20 years of service. Mrs. Murph enjoyed embroidering pillow cases, going to auctions, listening to Christian music and her special pets. A longtime member of Needmore Baptist Church, she served her church in many positions, to include teaching the ladies Sunday School class for many years, being both a choir member and choir leader, serving as a VBS volunteer and teacher, and as a faithful member of the WMU. She provided inspiration and loving encouragement and prayer for her family and her church family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Theo McDaniel, a US Marine who was killed on Iwo Jima; her second husband of 41 years, Giles “Nute” Murph; a son, Fred McDaniel; granddaughters Jamie Lookabill and Julie Lookabill; an infant great-granddaughter, Katlyn Mitchell; a son-in-law, Don Burton; a sister, Pauline Padgett; and a brother, Fred Hellard. Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughters: Kay Burton of Mocksville, Donna Reavis and husband Larry, Pamela Hensley and husband Jimmy and Jennifer Lookabill and husband Jimmy, all of Woodleaf; a daughter-in-law, Barbara McDaniel of Woodleaf; plus eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Arrangements: The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Davie Funeral Service Chapel in Mocksville. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at Needmore Baptist Church officiated by Rev. R. Howard Wagoner and Pastor David Smith. Mr. Walter Lee “Bink” Brown, 89, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017. Bink was always talking about going home, and he was “packed and ready” to be with his Maker when he passed. He was a happy and joyful person and a friend to everyone he met. His kindness and gentle ways influenced many people and won many friends. He will be sincerely and deeply missed. Bink was born Nov. 6, 1928. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. Bink retired from Ingersoll-Rand. He is survived by his forever love, Frances McDaniel Brown whom he married in 1954; his daughter, Tina Marie Brown West (Lowell); his brother, Clifford “Buster” Brown (Harriet) of Advance; and several precious nieces and nephews. It was often said that Bink and Frances had a “forever Love”. Their commitment to each other was evidence of God's plan for marriage and happiness. Their 63 years of marriage was a testimony of that love. “My beloved is mine and I am his.” Song of Solomon 2:16. He was preceded in death by his parents, Graham and Pearl Brown; brothers, Otis and Willis Brown; and sisters, Beatrice Chappell, Mary Foster and Helen Moser. Bink was a member of the Needmore Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Sunday School Director. He and Frances loved traveling and had many happy memories of their trips. Bink could see God's beauty wherever he looked. He was especially fond of the trips out west where he could see God's beauty all around. Visitation and Service: A funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 24, at Needmore Baptist Church, 1620 Mt. Vernon Road, Woodleaf with Pastor David Smith and Pastor Richard Gross officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Nancy Elizabeth Cloer Seamon, 87, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at the home of her daughter, Dianne and son-in-law, Carl Williams. She fought a brave battle with Alzheimer's disease for over three years. Born on July 19, 1931 in Iredell County, she was the daughter to the late Sarah Jenkins Cloer and Roy Everette Cloer. Nancy was a 1949 graduate of Cleveland School. She missed many school days caring for her grandmother and later in life she cooked, cleaned and cared for her mother and other relatives. She loved the Lord and loved reading her Bible. She also loved showering her family with gifts and bountiful meals. Nancy was a member of Needmore Baptist Church where she worked with children and youth in her earlier years. She was a homemaker and co-owner and operator of Seamon's Auto Sales and Service for many years, along with her husband, A.C. (Jink) Seamon, who preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Archie Everette Cloer. In addition to her daughter, Dianne and son-in-law, Carl Ray Williams, she is survived by two grandchildren, Kelly W. Hogan (James) and Alan Williams (Kerri) of Statesville; five great-grandchildren, Julia Elizabeth Hogan, Thomas Alan Williams, Annie Elizabeth Hogan, Bear Micah Williams and River Joanna Williams. Mr. Wilburn Junior “Mack” McDaniel, 91, formerly of Mt. Vernon Road, died Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Liberty Commons Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Salisbury.
He was born September 8, 1927, in Rowan County to the late William Joe and Elizabeth Saine McDaniel. Mack was a lifelong member of Needmore Baptist Church. He retired from Rowan Regional Medical Center as an engineer after 32 years of service. Mack would give you the shirt off his back and was a good handyman who could fix anything. He was a very loving grandfather who thought the world of his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Claudine McDaniel; a daughter, Kathy Reep; a grandson, Scott McDaniel; and eight brothers.
Survivors include a son, Roger McDaniel (Mary) of Woodleaf; a daughter, Carolyn Arey (Tim) of Salisbury; four grandchildren, Courtney McDaniel, Josh Reep (Ashley), J. D. Arey and Regana Hawkins (John); nine great-grandchildren, Tryston, Kelsie, Caleb, Kamryn, Cedric, John II, Corbin, Makayla and Callie; a sister, Bonnie McGee (Fid) of China Grove; two sisters-in-law, Joann McDaniel of Murphy and Mary Kathryn McDaniel of Mocksville; a son-in-law, Michael Reep of Woodleaf; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 19, at Needmore Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Williams and Rev. David Smith officiating. Zelma Juanita Ward Seamon, 93, of Woodleaf, passed away Sat., Dec. 26, 2020 at her residence. Born in Buncombe County on July 29, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Ray Lee Ward and Bertha Arrington Ward. Zelma graduated high school and on July 11, 1945, she married Thomas Henry Seamon, who survives. She was a long-time member of Needmore Baptist Church in Woodleaf; worked as a seamstress at Mocksville Manufacturing and enjoyed crafts, sewing, cooking and loved to read. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Lee Seamon; brothers, Cecil, Robert, Richard, Leonard and J.D Ward; and one sister, Mae Ward. Those left to cherish her memory in addition to her husband are two daughters, Barbara Diane McDaniel of Woodleaf and Judy Kay Neal (Richard) of S.C.. Charles Douglas Nettles, 65, of Woodleaf, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, at Iredell Memorial Hospital with family by his side. He loved his job at McGuire Nuclear Station where he worked for 35 years. He was a NC 4-H leader for many years and an active leader in many homeschooling groups - often encouraging new families at conferences. He spent countless hours as a leader and speaker in The Gideons International. He was a member and deacon at Needmore Baptist Church where he helped his fellow members, made repairs, and taught Sunday School. Church members, family members, friends, and anyone feeling lonely were always welcome as he hosted a Thanksgiving feast each year complete with corny jokes, home made food, and a genuine thanks to God. He was deeply devoted to his family and to Jesus Christ in all he did. He was preceded in death by his parents, JB and Mildred Douglass Nettles; stepmother, Elizabeth Gray Nettles; and grandson, Charlie Andrew Nettles. Carl Douglas Nettles, 39, died Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Douglas Nettles; and nephew, Charlie Andrew Nettles. Carl enjoyed his career in information security and helping and teaching others about computers. He deeply loved his family and spending time with them was one of his greatest joys. Game and movie nights were frequent and included everything from UNO at the dinner table to gaming on the computer. He also enjoyed traveling with his family and teaching Sunday school at church. Carl became a member of The Gideons International in 2019, and was devoted to Jesus Christ in all he did. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 14 years, Kara Burnett Nettles; his son, Luke Adam Nettles; his mother, Sarah Moore Nettles; his siblings, Brian (Katie) Nettles, John (Laura) Nettles, Crystal Nettles, Ben Nettles, Carol (Caleb) Smith, Ian Nettles, Laura Nettles; and many other extended family members. Jack Hodge, 84 of Woodleaf, NC passed away Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Glenn Kiser Hospice House from complications from surgery repairing a broken hip replacement prosthesis.
Born June 19, 1938, in Rowan County, NC he was the son of the late Katy Hodge Misenheimer and was raised by his grandparents, Charles and Eva Jane Hodge and aunt, Camilla Exie Hodge.
Mr. Hodge was a graduate of Cleveland High School. He owned and operated Towne Mall Exxon, where he won numerous awards as an Exxon Dealer and retired at the age of 62. For the last 22 years he raised beef cattle on his land in Woodleaf and his land Cleveland, which was part of the family farm where he grew up. Mr. Hodge was a member of Needmore Baptist Church where he met his wife of 67 years, Shirley Reavis Hodge. They met in the 3rd grade. When asked by a CNA if Nanny (Shirley) was his sweetheart, he said “yes, and has been for a long time”. Mr. Hodge loved to travel and also enjoyed watching sports, especially Carolina Tarheel football.
Along with his mother, grandparents and aunt; he was preceded in death by his cousins who were like siblings to him, Bob Hodge, Joe Hodge and Irene Hodge Miller Cooley. Jack and his cousin Irene were also named Best All Around in their high school class.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley Reavis Hodge; daughter, Deborah Hodge of Charlotte, NC, sons, Jack Hodge Jr. (Teresa) of Salisbury and Ronnie Hodge (Wendy) of Woodleaf, NC, and daughter, Lynn Hodge Weisler (Paul) of Salisbury; grandchildren, Philip Jack Hodge (Suzy), Mallory Hodge Whitley (Jason), Chase Kyles (Lindsee), Meredith Weisler Norvell (Philip); great-grandchildren, Jessie, Bekah, and Alexander Jack “AJ” Hodge; Ellory and Jacksyn Whitley; Elizabeth and Alice Norvell.

Sarah Elizabeth Moore Nettles, 62, of Woodleaf, went to her heavenly home Thursday, July 27, 2023, at S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville.
She was born February 10, 1961, in Iredell County. Mrs. Nettles was a member of Needmore Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife and mother of eight children, and loved others as her own as well. Her life’s work was homeschooling her children and a grandson, helping at her church, and serving in the Auxiliary of the Gideons International.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Charles Douglas Nettles; a son, Carl Douglas Nettles; a grandson, Charlie Andrew Nettles; a sister, Martha Gail Moore Wilson; and a brother-in-law, Robin Mark Wilson.
Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Ben Harvey and Ruby Belle Moore; her children, Brian Nettles (Katie), John Nettles (Laura), Crystal Turner (Adam), Ben Nettles, Carol Smith (Caleb), Ian Nettles (Ryleigh), Laura Nettles; daughter-in-law, Kara Nettles; eight grandchildren; and a brother, Ralph Moore (Susan).

A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 29, at Needmore Baptist Church, Woodleaf, with Rev. David Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family invites friends to visit with them from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, July 28, at Needmore Baptist Church, 1620 Mt. Vernon Road.

Ben Harvey “Bill” Moore, 86, of Woodleaf, went to his heavenly home Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury.
He was born November 14, 1936, in Rowan County, to the late William Jasper and Martha Gunter Moore. Mr. Moore was a member of Needmore Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and member of the building and grounds committee. He was retired from Hoechst Celanese. Mr. Moore was an avid golfer for over 50 years. After retirement he played once a week with the Golfers Association of Rowan Seniors (GARS), and would try to play any other day that he could.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughters, Sarah Elizabeth Moore Nettles and Martha Gail Moore Wilson; sister, Bertha Mae Moore Upright; grandson, Carl Douglas Nettles; great-grandson, Charlie Andrew Nettles; and sons-in-law, Robin Mark Wilson, and Charles Douglas Nettles.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of over 64 years, Ruby Belle Campbell Moore; son, Ralph Moore (Susan); sister, Mary Sue Moore Leonard; grandchildren, Ila and Maggy Moore, Brian Nettles (Katie), John Nettles (Laura), Crystal Turner (Adam), Ben Nettles, Carol Smith (Caleb), Ian F. Nettles (Ryleigh), Laura Nettles, Rusty Wilson (Victoria), and Brice Wilson; granddaughter-in-law, Kara Nettles; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nephews.
